Research Project Coordinator Senior - ClinGen Details Posted: 03-Jan-23Location: Danville, PennsylvaniaType: Full TimeSalary: OpenCategories: Academic / Research Internal Number: R-40212 Job SummaryThe Clinical Genome Resource team (ClinGen, www.clinicalgenome.org) is a research program funded by the National Human Genome Research Institute that supports central resources to define the clinical relevance of genes and variants for use in precision medicine and research. This project coordinator position will play a vital role in coordinating activities within the ClinGen team at Geisinger and across the international ClinGen consortium, including coordination of the ClinGen patient registry, GenomeConnect. This individual will have exposure to the genetics and/or clinical information technology fields. Background in genetics or information technology is not required, but attention to detail, drive, and strong interpersonal skills are.Under minimal supervision of an experienced project manager or designee, responsible for oversight of projects including protocol development and implementation, regulatory and other applicable submissions, project planning, team management, project tracking, data collection, and assisting in study finances in the creation of final reports and publications. Secondary responsibilities include assisting with the development and management of new projects.
Job Duties Provide core coordination support for the ClinGen patient registry, GenomeConnect.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with project investigators to set goals and assignments, track progress, and meet milestones.
  • Coordinate recurring meetings - including scheduling calls, setting agendas, preparing materials, sending reminder and follow-up emails, taking minutes, and tracking action items..
  • Liaise with registry platform staff, patient advocacy group representatives, and other interested collaborators.
  • Maintain existing institutional review board (IRB) protocols and develop new protocols as needed.
  • Communicate with research participants (e.g., answering questions, connecting with relevant resources.)
  • Review and collate information from genetic testing reports.
  • Coordinate data submission to relevant databases including ClinVar, a publicly available NIH-based repository of genomic variants and their relationships to human health. Other Clinical Genome Resource-Related Duties:
    • Develop outreach strategies and informational materials to recruit new GenomeConnect participants and educate the community on availability of ClinGen tools and resources.
    • Contribute to ClinGen/GenomeConnect website content management and social media accounts.
    • Opportunity to participate in gene and variant curation activities if interest arises .Other Duties:
      • Works with minimal guidance and mentorship from experienced project managers and research investigators to implement research studies.
      • Tracks project-related expenses and assists with monitoring study budgets.
      • Assists in developing new study budgets under minimal supervision.
      • Ensures adherence to federal or other regulatory requirements.
      • Assists in the development, implementation, and management of protocols for research projects.
      • Under minimal supervision, implements a project plan and provides overall project coordination, including oversight of the study team, progress tracking and reporting, quality control, recruitment and research support staff training.
      • Coordinates all research project-related activities to meet project goals and milestones, based on study design.
      • Communicates resource needs, issues, project status and milestones met to project team and project leader.
      • Develops and delivers study specific material.
      • Mentors, manages, and trains junior project staff.
      • Handles sensitive project issues and provides resolution.
      • Submits requests for data extracts and manages data under minimal direction.
      • Assists with preparation of data dictionaries.
      • Assists with preparation and submission of final reports, study manuscripts for publication, grant applications, and contract request submissions
