Essential Duties
- Responsible for the daily supervision and development of tax
staff. Performs detailed review of staff work performed. Assist
junior staff with understanding general audit practices, as well as
Marcum LLP practices, procedures and system.
- Assumes responsibility for and is recognized as the Firm's
"in-charge" representative on engagements. Assume manager role when
necessary.
- Makes decisions and solves problems effectively and efficiently
using the Firm's resources, experience and an analytical
approach
- Applies learning from prior experiences to interpret current
situations. Can determine both quantitative and qualitative
variances that need to be investigated further.
- Ensure complete client satisfaction through open communication,
managing and meeting deadlines and proactively sharing tax saving
strategies
- Develops and maintains expertise on specialized accounting and
auditing practices applicable to entities in the industry or
specialization, including revenue recognition practices, asset
valuation and realization matters, accounting for financial
instruments and derivatives, and equity/fund/partnership accounting
matters.
- Manage people and functions through the following skills, but
not limited to; coaching, decision making, problem solving,
strategy & planning, delegation, leadership and team building
Additional Responsibilities
- Proactively participate in professional development
opportunities, i.e. Mentoring Program, Coaching, Continuing
Professional Education Courses, etc.
- Continue to work towards advancing technical knowledge and
working knowledge of GAAP, GAAS and other relevant professional
standards
- Keep current on professional pronouncements (i.e. FASB/ASC
pronouncements)
- Contributes to articles or other media to be included in the
Firm's newsletters and/or industry publications by assisting with
research and writing projects, or other media.
- Displays willingness to participate in Firm marketing and
recruiting activities. Help identify and recruit quality
candidates.
- Supervise, develop, train and mentor staff including
performance and engagement reviews
- Working beyond standard hours is expected during busy
season
- Minimal travel to client sites may be required
- Additional responsibilities, not listed above may be expected
as needed
Qualifications
- BA/BS/MS in Accounting or Tax from an accredited college or
university (minimum of 150 college credits earned before start
date).
- Must have CPA license or be eligible to sit for the CPA exam at
time of hire
- Working knowledge of tax laws/Generally Accepted Accounting
Principles
- 2-6 years of relevant public accounting experience preferred;
experience in tax provision a plus
- Basic technology skills with proficiency in Excel, Word &
PowerPoint required.
- Working knowledge and experience with ProSystem Fx Engagement
Tax, CCH Axcess, BNA Online, Sureprep, and Go File Room are a
plus
- Working knowledge of federal and state tax compliance
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and be able to
listen effectively
- Effective time management, organizational, and analytical
abilities.
- Flexibility and openness to work on a variety of assignments;
able to multi-task.
- Ability to learn processes quickly and be able to apply to
jobs.
- Work well under pressure and with a team; able to meet
deadlines with accuracy
- Ability to work independently and exercise professional
judgment while applying specialized proficiencies of a trained
accountant
- Strong technical skills pertaining to tax preparation and
review, tax compliance, agency correspondence and tax
research

compensation range. This compensation range is specific to certain
locations and takes into account the wide range of factors that are
considered in making compensation decisions including but not
limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and
certifications; and other business and organizational needs.
Compensation Range
Salary: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00
