Job Description Job Description Licensed Practical Nurse (Neuro) - Full-Time, Night Shift The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Neuro/Pulmonary Stroke Unit delivers specialized nursing care to individuals dealing with intricate pulmonary and neurological issues, including COPD, strokes, and TIAs, all under the guidance of a Registered Nurse (RN). This full-time night role involves regular patient evaluations, collaboration with various departments, and upholding patient confidentiality. Employing the nursing process, the LPN offers patient care under the supervision of licensed professionals authorized to prescribe medications and treatments, or under the direction of an RN. The LPN is accountable for the quality of care provided to assigned patients and coordinates care in collaboration with other departments while ensuring patient rights and confidentiality are respected. Position Highlights: Sign-On Bonus: $2,000 for LPNs Position: Neuro LPN Hours: 36 hours per week, Night Shift Location: Mercy Hospital Jefferson, Festus, MO 63028 The Neuro/Pulmonary Stroke Unit: Common pulmonary conditions treated include COPD, respiratory failure, asthma, and pneumonia. Patients in this unit may require high-flow oxygen, BiPAP, or have tracheostomies or chest tubes. These cases necessitate thorough assessments, proactive therapies, and constant nursing attention. We collaborate closely with the Stroke Coordinator to manage Acute Stroke and TIA patients, occasionally utilizing tele-neuro services. Neuro patients need frequent evaluations to detect subtle changes in their condition, and we provide education on stroke awareness. Qualifications: Education: Practical Nursing Degree from an accredited institution Licensure: Current LPN license in the state or the ability to obtain it within 90 days Certifications: Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association; IV Certification to be completed within one year.
