Assures facilities-related systems maximize operational performance and the overall presentation of owned/leased facilities. The position is responsible for managing budgets, planning and developing organizational structure and creating master operational plans to meet current and future needs of facilities system-wide.Job Duties

  • Directs, coordinates and manages overall operations and maintenance of physical plant operating units including campus maintenance, building services, campus services and grounds and energy management to create efficiencies, develop proactive work culture and automate reporting and records for system as well as assigned region.
  • Establishes, manages and monitors budgets for each operational unit for efficiency and effectiveness within approved budgetary guidelines.
  • Manages Routine Infrastructure Fund.
  • Ensures consistent communication between operational units and planning, design, construction, sustainability, small business inclusion, environmental health and safety, facilities administration, transportation, physical security, information technology and similar entities.
  • Designs, implements, maintains, measures and analyzes customer service guidelines for each unit to ensure outstanding customer service.
  • Coordinates with Planning Design and Construction and authorities having jurisdiction to ensure compliance with all applicable codes and laws regarding the physical plant of the campus.
  • Coordinates with the Sustainability Program in order to maximize the sustainability aspects of the operations of the physical plant and working with staff to create a culture of sustainability.
  • Ensures efficient and cost-effective systems are utilized to facilitate recycling, reduce unnecessary consumption and dispose of waste responsibly.
  • Ensures appropriate utilization of Human Resources to include effective staffing practices, vacancy management and judicious use of overtime across Facilities Management.
  • Manages facilities operations, maintenance and repairs including but not limited to, building, mechanical, electrical, painting and plumbing trades; grounds and landscaping.
  • Maintains the safety, reliability and resiliency of all Geisinger facilities.
  • Working with the department leaders, responsible for development, maintenance and implementation of the Facilities Master plan.
  • Ensures timely preparation and monitoring of goals, policies, budgets and appropriate documentation.
  • Actively manages and prioritizes work resources including strategic decisions regarding insource/outsource skill trade resources.
  • Creates department, strategic, team and individual goals and objectives to maintain a standardized relevant, competitive and customer service-oriented organization.
  • Oversees related infrastructure construction/renovation projects; provides oversight and coordinate of cleanup in preparation for occupancy.
  • Along with the AVP of Design and AVP of Delivery meets regularly with business units, department administrators and other key customers to monitor customer satisfaction.
  • Develops action plans to improve areas of deficiency.
  • Researches technology and regulations to update and improve systems; makes recommendations to departments for implementation.
