Representative for our Nevada/California Basin territory. The
primary focus of this Sales Representative is to sell all Macmillan
Learning solutions across assigned accounts. The objectives of this
position are to promote Macmillan Learning products as either
required and/or suggested student textbooks, references, software,
website, or study aids for any/all courses in which Macmillan
products might be appropriate at each campus.
The successful candidate will show an aptitude for creativity in
how to present emerging learning technologies; they will also be
comfortable with the unknown, as we navigate new and evolving ways
to bring course materials to today's student.
The Sales Representative will be initiating daily in-person,
on-campus sales calls with college faculty, mainly, but also
administrators and technology staff, and providing detailed
follow-up. This territory covers accounts from Reno, Nevada, to
Sacramento, California, and extends south through the Fresno and
Bakersfield area. The successful candidate is expected to live
within this area. Candidates from Sacramento, CA are preferred.

Major responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Travel to local college campuses selling textbooks and educational
software products to faculty (20% overnight travel, but seasonally
higher).
Develop strong relationships with new and existing customers by
demonstrating our products, recommending solutions, and providing
service and support.
Work collaboratively with your Regional Manager, regional product
specialists, and marketing and editorial teams to help drive the
sales of all existing products.
Coordinate onboarding and training of digital products, act as the
point person for ongoing training and support, complete First Day
of Class presentations and communicate with specialists and RM for
escalation of customer support cases.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree Required.
Direct outside sales experience preferred.
Publishing experience preferred but not required.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a sales team.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability
to thrive in a self-starting environment.
A knowledge of and/or an interest in working in an academic
environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Salary Range: $69,000 - $75,000
Exemption Status: Exempt
Physical Requirements:
Requires periods of close concentration, must be able to
multi-task, must be able to walk up to 3 miles a day on campus,
must be able to sit/stand for long periods at conventions, must be
able to concentrate in noisy/busy environment, and must be able to
travel, including ability to drive for periods from 2 to 5 hours,
depending upon the territory involved. A valid driver's license is
required with daily travel within territory and frequent overnight
trips. Attendance at national sales meetings and regional meetings
is required (5 or more days). During the fall and spring selling
seasons it is necessary to work more than 40 hours per week. During
these seasons it is necessary to spend all day on campus and then
complete paperwork, sampling, and expense reports in the
evening.
